“For this piece I was inspired by noir films and just French aesthetics overall. I wanted to experiment with sharp color contrasts like black and white. But it would have been too dull with only two colors so I decided to go for a bold crimson as well. I used sharpies to color pretty much everything aside from a gray copic marker to shade with.” - Lauren Bielawsk
“I took inspiration from Greek busts because when I doodle, I usually just draw the head and bust because I’m lazy and worry that I’ll mess up the body. For this piece, I only used a micron pen and pencil because I didn’t want to use any colors. You see some Greek busts and they look so beautiful with the white marble. I didn’t (and still don’t) know how to color a pure, white, shiny marble so I relied on a pencil to do my best with shadows.” - Lauren Bielawski
“I actually did this piece when I was starting to draw in more cartoony styles. I knew that for this drawing I wanted a girl with a hairstyle I had never tried before. I wanted to go for a curly and bold look. I knew I wanted her hair to be white, but I wanted it to be bolder somehow. I tried shading with light purple to achieve that effect. Everything I used to color in this piece were from copic markers. (Also I love stars, so I thought I’d make her appearance reflect that).” - Lauren Bielawski
