“This is a somewhat normal style of mine, I drew a random face on a canvas and use gouache paint to paint it. Gouache is my favorite medium of paint because of how opaque it can be. I tend to create mostly black people people in my art, because I feel there is somewhat of a lack of that in today’s art sometimes.” - Jasmine Smalling
“For this painting I had just gotten really into skating and we had this really old Pokémon board that I wanted to paint after seeing a video on YouTube! So I took off all the wheel trucks, sanded down the board as much as I could and spray painted the base violet, then I used acrylic paint to put a big Daffy Duck on it! (Daffy Duck is easily one of my favorite characters ever created.)” - Jasmine Smalling
"This is one of my all time favorite paintings of mine. It is Miles Morales from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, and he is another one of my favorite characters. I again used gouache on a canvas in this painting to try and get the flat vibrant colors the animated film got across so well.” - Jasmine Smalling
“For this drawing I used just colored pencils on a piece of sketchbook paper. It is a drawing of Yara Shahidi, someone whom I look up to as a role model. She is very outspoken with social issues I find important and she is an awesome actress in one of my favorite shows ‘Grown-ish.’” - Jasmine Smalling
